Title of work: Alternative Fashion Week 2009 in London

Media/Materials: oil on paint
Date: 23-04-2009
This piece of art was displayed on a site called dailypainters.com, the artist; Olha paints small paintings of urban life in London, UK and trips around it. I find this painting relevant to my theme and interesting as it is a painting of a model in a fashion runaway that has reached the end of the runway and now is modelling out the outfit she is wearing, i like the fashion industry so usually anything to do with fashion is interesting for me. This is also why i have included it in my exhibition.
Artist name: Andy Warhol
Title of work: Female fashion Figure.c.1959
Size: 66 cm X 77 cm
Media/Materials: Premium Giclee Print
This art print is produced on a 300 gsm,acid-free and cotton-textured watercolour paper.I haven choose to keep this image in my exhibition as i like how the two dominant images are in colour but it not too bright, and that the background is just lightly sketched out. this is also relevant to my subject matter as the clothing she is wearing in the picture was fashionable in the 1950′s to 1960′s. This work can be found on the site name: art.com where it is also available for sale.

Title of work: Shit Kicker,2006
Size: c- print. 8 3/4 in. (22.2 X 33 cm)
Media/Materials: Photograph
I loved this photograph as it really stands out and looks interesting its not so neat as it shows that the heals are covered in mud, but it relates to the my theme as the stiletto’s are part of fashion.Marilyn Minter’s work is mostly all related to fashion although instead of clean and beautiful she has captured a messy side to fashion. This piece of work has been shown on billboards in America.
Artist name: Sophie DeFrancesca
Title of work: A Corset of Thorns
Size: h: 17 X w: 13 X d:12 in.
Media/Materials: Sculpture made from steel,aluminum,crystals
I found this piece of work on a site called artnet.com, although it is shown in the gallery named Oeno Gallery. I find this sculpture interesting as it a work of fashion that has been made from hard materials that have made the corset look quite old showing that it also has a history in fashion many years ago and that fashion has been incorporated in today’s fashion era.

Studio Work- Semester 2
Photcopy
These two images are a image that i copied and then drew myself, it shows the different black and white tones throughout the drawing once photo copied. In the first image i mixed both the original and mine together, and in the other i enlarged the image then coved some parts of the a4 size paper with the enlarged bits.Photocopy was something i first thought what is this going to help me with, but it did indeed give you new ideas on how to make a simple drawing or image and if you photocopy it with different contrast levels and play around it really turns into something interesting to look at. Also learned some new options that i could play around with on the photocopier machine.
Scale
I enjoyed Scale even though it was a Monday which ment we only had a half day for this studio. It gave me a knowledge n how achrictices draw it can be a little complicated at start but got the hang og it.
Here is a Scale drawing i did during class of Studio 4 i edited it to turn it into a bar as you can see the bar chairs and the rectangular shapes represent the sofa and you can also see a DJ box in the corner.
I also research a film on you tube called Power of Ten
line dynamics
I layered an these two images i choose using photoshop and created and new piece of art or you could say a new look to it.You are still able to see the original but the use of lines made it more interesting i thought.I really enjoyed line dynamics as i learned different tools in photoshop that i never knew about and how i can just easy change a image with only lines.
Drawing Machines
I really really enjoyed making drawings it was great fun, really made me use my head and think about what other ways are there of making art without actually physically using hands on straight away.i thought the tyre idea was good where we placed a a2 piece of paper under the tyre then drew on the tyre with chalk and then stuck the car in N and as the tyre moved it made a print on the paper. We watched some you tube videos in class to help us get an idea of what we were suppose to make.here is one of them that i looked at.
This is a video on one of Rebecca horns work. She specilised is drawing machines.born in Michelstadt, Germany in 1944.Since 1989 Rebecca Horn teaches at the Berliner Hochschule. Inertia #1(Bartlett-Wikipedia) 2008
Spray can enamel on coated steel
110x110cm
In his work produced for both street and gallery contexts,Hobart’s-based artists Jamin draws on Wikipedia’s production of public knowledge and combs the media vast image bank for sources.Intetia #1 (Bartlett-Wikipedia)2008 features an image of David Bartlett, the recently appointed Premier of Tasmania,as he he gives what appears to be a passionate response in parliamentary question time. Bartlett is suited up.His mouth open and his eyes directed towards the opposition across the floor. The heavy bags under his eyes suggests that he works hard for the people of Tasmania, but Jamine observes Bartlett’s face and suit with the definition ‘inertia;, as given by Wikipedia and large capital letters. The link between the image and text in this and other works is left hazy-like the peripheral spray from Jamine’s spray can.
Change#1 (Obama-Machiavelli) 2008
Spray can enamel of coated steel/
110x110cm
Machiavelli’s text is about a state that enforces law by using coercive force and resisting change contrasts with the figure of current American presidential candidate Barack Obama, who has based his election campaign on promises of change(his campaign catchphrases include ‘Change we can believe in’ and “The blueprint for change”). Jasmines use of bold font weighs heavily on the contemporary political figures.Drawing our attention to the way in which teh lessons of history can cast doubt on thier ability to implement promises of radical change.Jamine draws parallels between contemporary and historical political persuasions and suggests a continuum that ebbs and flows from right to left.

Quote in above image shown:

In America fuck yeah 2007, which measures nearly two by two meters,Paris Hilton appears as a gargantuan figure.Continuing Jamin’s frequent use of popular song lyrics for the titles of his works,,,,,,,America fuck, yeah references a musical number in tne infamous political spoof film Team America:World Police 2004 by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.A quote i again used in the work, this time from the captain of the Iraqi soccer team, Younis Mahmoud, regarding his wish to rid iraq of its current American military presence. In the context of Hilton’s sexualised pose, Mahmouds words also suggest the desire to rid the world of America’s culture colonisation. There is something inherently hopeful in th voice of protesters, as dissonance comes from a belif that your voice-if heard- can make a difference.
Modern Aboriginal Political Art
The following pictures from part of an exhibihition of modern aboriginal posters nd screenprints, held at Moesgaard Museum in Denmark. The exhibithion has been put together by Ruth and Vincet megaw from the collection held art gallery at Finders University in south Australia.
Political survival in the form of land rights, better education etc. is the obvious aim of these prints, but the embedded features of Aboriginal painting styles and motifs speak of the even more essential survival of a culture, which is a prerequisite of political survival.

Taken Away,Slikscreen on paper
This print was designed for the National Gallery in Canberra. It is from a omans perpestive and illustrates two important things that aboriginal women have lost since colonization in 1788, their land and their children.Between 1905 and even until early 1970′s it was the policy to remove children from black women who had been fathered by white men. The assumption was that black women were not fit to bring up children with the white blood in them. Also it is said as a quick form of assimilation. The removed children were brought up by white in government settlements and missions. Their were strongly discouraged from taking any interest in their mothers’ culture and in majority of cases had little contact with their black families, and no contact with the family of the white father because these children were never owned. The policy, more than any other, led to a rapid breakdown of Aboriginal family groups and culture.
